Anitua Mining Services provides specialised services to support mining activities, along with civil project services such as road building, airport upgrades and residential development projects. The company consists of 4 separate business units – each focused on providing specific skills, equipment and services. The business units consist of:

The company has contracts currently in place for a range of projects, including: quarrying, crushed aggregate supply, mining support equipment and personnel, supply and management of lighting plants, contract mining and stockpile relocation, townsite development, road works, residential projects, processing plant expansion, foreshore improvement and road upgrade scheme. Further opportunities are currently being investigated including; off island road upgrades, airport extension/upgrade and bitumen sealing.
Mining Services is developing with the assistance of a dynamic continuous improvement program which has included:
- A restructure of the company in 2008, which is seeing Mining Services gear up for expansion both on and off Lihir Island.
- The recruitment of a number of specialists to ensure that each division is able to provide best possible service to its business partners.
- The development of new policies and procedures providing a vast improvement in areas such as safety, training, HR and finance.
- A proactive approach to the long term future of Lihirians with many local companies having active participation in the daily operations.
- The development of procedures to ensure employment and training within the local community.
Through these continuous improvements, Mining Services is ultimately looking at obtaining quality accreditation in the next few years which in turn will open up further opportunities for the company. With this strong focus on the future, Anitua Mining Services is well on its way to establishing itself as a major player in its field in PNG.
