Anitua Limited hosted a Business and Career Expo on Lihir Island, aimed at attracting local talent to join the landowner company.
Anitua’s Chief Executive Officer, Julian Counsel, explained that apart from showcasing the company, the Expo was also aimed at giving local Lihirians, especially the students, an opportunity to start thinking about their career pathway.
“Anitua is a local company. We encourage young Lihirians to return to the island after they complete their studies and fill up roles in the various Anitua businesses. We want young Lihirians to lead this company into the future.”
Students from four technical and vocational schools on Lihir Island attended the Expo.
“We also have Lihir Farms which is part of Anitua’s sustainability plan. We encourage our local people to tap into Out-Grower program through Lihir farms as this will provide the community with food security and a source of income, after mine closure,” said Mr Counsel.
Students who attended the Expo expressed that it was an insightful experience.
The event, for the first time, saw all subsidiaries of Anitua Ltd join hands to showcase the business, with the theme One Anitua. These included NCS Holdings Ltd, Anitua Constructions Services, Anitua Protective Services, Anitua Mining Services, Lihir Business Services, Anitua Retail and Lihir Farms.
The Anitua Business and Career Expo was held at Londolovit, Lihir Island, last Friday 4th November 2022.
